A small attic in Japan,
filled with handmade pieces, books, and quiet discoveries.
Some are crafted here.
Some are found along the way.
Small things with stories, waiting to be discovered and to find their next home.
Attic Nat
Attic Nat began as a small handmade project.
My first tiny shop opened on Etsy in 2009, where I started making scrunchies from kimono fabric — often using pieces left from my own kimono and my family's kimono. Since then, the shop has continued quietly, sometimes slowly, sometimes taking small pauses, but always returning to the joy of making things by hand.
Sewing has always been part of my life.
My grandmother was a kimono seamstress, and when I was a little girl I often wore kimono she had sewn by hand. My mother also studied dressmaking, so I grew up surrounded by sewing boxes, fabrics, and the quiet work of making clothes.
Later, I studied clothing and fashion science at a college in Tokyo, which deepened my appreciation for textiles and craftsmanship.
At first, Attic Nat was simply about making things —
scrunchies from kimono fabric, small accessories, and simple handmade pieces.
But over time, the attic slowly grew.
Alongside handmade items, small discoveries began to appear: books from Japanese shelves, textiles, and everyday objects that quietly carry a sense of Japan.
Like an old attic in a house, you never know exactly what you might find here.
Some things are handmade.
Some things are discovered.
All of them are small pieces of Japan, waiting for their next story.
If you love Japan and its quiet everyday beauty, I hope you may enjoy exploring this little attic.
Thank you very much for visiting.
Best,
Natsu
